CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR OUR CLIENTS AND STAFF

As you are already aware, there is ongoing concern about the spread of COVID-19 which was declared a worldwide pandemic in March 2020 by the World Health Organisation.

We understand many of you will be anxious and concerned about your personal wellbeing and getting the supports you need. However, you may find there will be unavoidable changes to some of your supports and services.

This may mean that:

  • A different support worker may deliver your supports and services;

  • Some supports and services may need to change or be temporarily postponed;

  • We may offer supports in a different way (for example, via video link);

  • Some places that you normally visit may be closed, like the cinema.

We urge you to stay vigilant. It is important that you are safe. If you receive supports or services where there are a lot of people together, those services and supports will need to change. A lot of people in one place can increase the risk of you catching the virus.

It is also important that you be careful in your decisions about who you see and where you go. This is to protect yourself and others who may be more likely to catch the virus. Please continue to wash your hands thoroughly and often.

If you are showing signs of Fever or chills, Acute respiratory symptoms such as cough, sore throat or shortness of breath, headache, aching muscles, runny or stuffy nose, loss of smell, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.

  • Support Workers must not attend rostered shifts;

  • Clients should seek further advice through the office or their family supports.

If you have returned from overseas, you must isolate for the required 14 days as per the Governments legal requirements.

How is Morcare responding to this pandemic?

We have developed COVID-19 preparedness and response plans which will assist to minimise the risk of further disease transmission between our staff and clients whilst maintaining business continuity. We take advice provided by the Australian Department of Health as well as advice released by the Victorian Department of Health & Human Services.

We are undertaking activities to minimise the disruption to services and spread of infection during this outbreak and as such:

  • We will remain up-to-date and monitor COVID-19 information that may affect clients or staff;

  • The Leadership Team will convey information as it becomes available;

  • We will keep all of our stakeholders such as the NDIS, TAC and the Aged Care Commission informed of instances where service disruption is likely or has occurred because of circumstances beyond our control.

What is Morcare doing to create a safe environment for clients and staff?

  • We will continue to provide support in the community (unless advice changes), however, we will not be attending any group programs where people congregate;

  • We will avoid any activities that place people in close proximity to others for extended periods and maintain social distancing conventions;

  • Our Office in Wantirna will run with minimal staff and no meetings will be conducted on the premises;

  • Wherever possible our office staff will be working from home and maintaining contact with clients and support workers by phone, email or video link;

  • We are not permitting non-essential staff to visit clients as phone/video meetings can occur in lieu of face-to-face meetings;

  • Staff training in the office has been temporarily cancelled until further notice;

  • Staff or clients who have returned from any overseas travel will be excluded from the service for 14 days or designated quarantine period;

  • During a shift staff or clients displaying any symptoms of Coronavirus will be isolated until they can be sent home. Medical clearance will be required before staff return or client services resume.

  • Call your GP clinic for further advice;
